Nippon Paint Holdings Obtains Registration under Japan’s Whistleblowing Compliance Management System Certification Regime (Registration of Self-Declaration of Conformity)

Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Chairman, President & CEO: Masaaki Tanaka; hereinafter, NPHD) has become a registered company under the Consumer Affairs Agency’s Whistleblowing Compliance Management System (WCMS) certification regime (Registration of Self-Declaration of Conformity) on 25 December, 2020.

Under this registration program, a company may evaluate its own whistleblowing system and apply for certification and registration with a designated organization. If the organization verifies that the company’s whistleblowing system conforms to standardsset by the Consumer Affairs Agency, the organization will register the company with the WCMS certification, and grant the company the right to use the prescribed WCMS mark.

Whistleblowing system certification standards in accordance with the Guidelines for Business Operators regarding the Establishment, Maintenance and Operation of Internal Reporting Systems based on the Whistleblower Protection Act (December 9, 2016; Consumer Affairs Agency)

NPHD has established the NPHD Group Hotline, which enables employees and officers of NPHD and its group companies in Japan to report potential compliance violations. We have a system for the prevention, early detection and correction of misconduct by receiving reports concerning many types of compliance issues. Subjects range from breach of laws or regulations, such as corruption, to human rights violations, such as discrimination. Furthermore, we have a system that ensures the confidentiality of internal reports in order to enable people to submit reports with no concerns about negative consequences.

We are committed to further enhancing this whistleblowing system and strengthening our compliance management to remain a company that is trusted by all stakeholders.
