Nippon Paint Group Joins Aichi Agricultural Innovation Project
―Developing a Drone-Applicable Heat-Shielding, Light-Transmitting Coating-
Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo) announces that the Nippon Paint Group will participate in the Aichi Agricultural Innovation Project 2026, part of the Aichi Prefectural Government’s STATION Ai initiative. Together with INOCHIO PLANTCARE INC. (Toyohashi, Aichi), the Group will embark on a three-year development program starting in 2026 to create a high-performance heat-shielding coating for horticultural facilities that can be applied using drones.
A drone spraying heat-shielding coating onto a greenhouseSince FY2021, the Project has advanced agricultural innovation by fostering joint research that integrates the strengths of agricultural research institutions and universities with the new technologies and creative approaches of participating companies. For the FY2026 programs, five themes including the Nippon Paint Group’s proposal, were selected from a total of 51 entries.
Our development theme centers on a light-transmitting, high-performance heat-shielding coating for horticultural facilities. The technology aims to limit heat buildup while ensuring that essential sunlight continues to reach crops. Working alongside INOCHIO, we are developing a coating that can be applied by drones and still deliver stable, reliable performance on structures such as vinyl greenhouses.
As rising temperatures increasingly affect crop growth and agricultural productivity, the Nippon Paint Group is committed to playing an active role in addressing these societal challenges.
