Youth Homelessness in Victoria: What the Latest Snapshot Data Shows

In August, Murray Allen and Miranda Harmon represented B&D at Parliament House Victoria to help launch the 2025 Victorian Youth Homelessness Snapshot with Melbourne City Mission (MCM) and Social Ventures Australia. The ‘snapshot’ data presented was confronting and a powerful reminder of why our purpose – Helping Communities Protect What They Value Most – matters more than ever.

The snapshot revealed many young people without safe and stable homes have experienced violence, many have self-harmed or attempted suicide and too many remain disconnected from education and employment.

Through our partnership with MCM, B&D has already taken action – funding emergency care, running clothing drives, hosting soup lunches, supporting the Hometime campaign, and contributing through Dare2Share – our pre-tax giving program. Every order, every door and every delivery plays a part in supporting young people who need safety, stability and hope.

Supporting the “Food on the Table” Initiative

The B&D South Australian team took part in a volunteer day with Food on the Table, a charity that provides free, nutritious meals to people experiencing hardship in Adelaide. The initiative aligned with National Homelessness Awareness Week and highlights B&D’s commitment to supporting local communities.

The team spent the morning in the Hindmarsh kitchen preparing more than 500 meals for individuals and families facing homelessness, domestic violence, food insecurity and temporary accommodation. The experience offered a strong reminder of the value of community support and the impact small actions can have.

Team members described the day as humbling and rewarding, as they gained insight into the network of services for vulnerable South Australians. The activity formed part of the DuluxGroup Volunteer Day program and combined meal preparation, a shared lunch and team bonding.
