Responses to the Coronavirus Outbreak (Second Report)

Donated a total of 4 million RMB (about 64 million JPY) to Three Red Cross Societies in China

Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; Chairman, President and CEO Masaaki Tanaka, “NPHD”) has announced the second report of its response concerning the coronavirus outbreak in China that is spreading from the city of Wuhan in Hubei Province.

1.Donation to three Red Cross Societies in China

NPHD will donate a total of 4 million RMB (approximately 64 million JPY) to China to support its activities concerning the Coronavirus outbreak. As announced in the First Report of February 3, our local subsidiary in China donated 2 million RMB (approximately 32 million JPY) to the Red Cross in XianNing, Hebei. In addition, NPHD will donate 1 million RMB each to the Red Cross Society of China and the Shanghai Red Cross Society, totaling 2 million RMB (approximately 32 million JPY).

2.Monetary and mask donations from employees

NPHD is calling for mask donations to the employees and alumni in Japan and has also started fundraising activities among employees. As announced in the First Report, on top of the donation of 60,000 masks already sent, an additional 40,000 masks and other relief supplies were shipped to China. Furthermore, our group companies, including Betek Boya (Turkey), Nippon Paint India (India), have sent a total of more than 200,000 masks to our local subsidiaries in China. The entire NPHD group is committed to supporting our local subsidiaries in China.

3.Status of operations and of employees

To comply with the guidance of the Chinese government, ensure employee safety and contain the spread of infection, our Chinese subsidiary had extended the Spring Festival break to February 9.
With the exception of the factory in Hubei Province, operations were resumed on February 10. Furthermore, the Group conducts daily safety checks and health checks for all of its more than 9,000 employees in China. At present, no local employees are infected by the Coronavirus.
