Nippon Paint Launches Two New Anti-viral Water-Based Paint Products for Architectural Use
Through Development of Anti-viral and Anti-bacterial Water-Based Paints for Floors and Interior Walls

Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. (NPTU), a group company of Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo), which handles building paint, will launch two anti-viral and anti-bacterial water-based paint products, "PROTECTON® Floor VK Clear" (for floors) and "PROTECTON® Interior Wall VK Coat" (for interior walls) on February 25.

[Features of the New Products]

1．PROTECTON® Floor VK Clear (Clear Paint for Interior and Semi-Exterior Floors)

• Anti-viral and anti-bacterial effect by the action of copper (reducing viruses and bacteria adhered to the coating film surface by 99% or more)

• Excellent durability (maintaining a 99% or more virus reduction effect after cleaning with wet wipes or after coating film wear due to foot traffic or tire treads)

• This product can be used even for porcelain tiles often found, for example, in an entrance in a condominium, to which adhesion is difficult to achieve, by using an adhesion enhancer for floor-use clear paints as an optional additive.

2．PROTECTON® Interior Wall VK Coat (for interior walls)

• Anti-viral and anti-bacterial effect by the action of copper (reducing viruses and bacteria adhered to the coating film surface by 99% or more)

• Excellent durability even after cleaning with wet wipes, maintaining anti-viral and anti-bacterial effects.

• Color options available in bright colors (middle to dark color range), and also from full gloss finish to gloss 30 finish.

  Note: The hue and the gloss of the finished product are represented with middle paint.　

  Note: Due to the type and opacity of primary colors selected for use, adjustment to the desired hue and gloss may not be possible.

*3【Anti-virus test condition】
In accordance with ISO 21702, the virus solution was dropped onto the coated specimen. The virus infection titer was measured after 24 hours.　Virus type: Influenza A virus
【Antimicrobial test conditions】
In accordance with JIS Z2801, a drop of bacterial solution was applied to the coated specimen. The number of viable bacteria after 24 hours is measured.　Bacterial type: Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus

Nippon Paint Automotive Coatings Co., Ltd., a Nippon Paint Group company engaged in the automotive coatings business, will launch "PROTECTON® Car Interior VK Coat," an anti-viral product for automobile interiors, on the same day, so the Nippon Paint Group will launch three products from the PROTECTON lineup.

The Nippon Paint Group will expand the “PROTECTON series” with a wide range of anti-viral and anti-bacterial product lineup, not limited to paint, in order to deliver safety and security to our customers.
